Is there proof that the prophecies concerning Jesus were genuinely written before His birth?
I’m speaking of solid documentation outside of the Bible.
There is no documentation of Jesus’s existence outside the bible.
There were, however, a very large number of prophets and cults in that part of the middle-east around that time. Any prophecies could equally have been applied to many of them.
Update: If you think otherwise then feel free to post a link to your "evidence" that Jesus was a real person. Go on.
@Edward J - Religious documents pre-dating the supposed birth of Jesus and which don’t even name him are evidence of absolutely nothing. Truly pathetic.
@Herbie - Then POST your evidence!

we definintely know that the older books of the pentateuch and OT were written before 2,000 years ago. But they were often altered in translation to match NT writings.

Yes, Jewish scripture dated a long time prior to Jesus’ birth were discovered at Qum’ran. More commonly known as the "Dead Sea Scrolls". Now the question remains: Did those who were aware of the signs needed for the coming Messiah manipulate the background, etc of Jesus in order for him to fit as being the Messiah?

outside the bible, there is no evidence of jesus…none
prometheus_unbound | Feb 07, 2010
Yes Im pretty sure that the old testament scrolls dated to before jesus’s time through carbon dating.

Only in as much as the four gospels desperately twist the story of jesus’ birth to fit the prophecies - but each do it in a different way.
There is no independent or contemporary documentation that jesus ever existed.

There are no prophecies that fit Jesus even IN the bible, at least not in the Jewish Torah. He didnt fulfill even one of the actual Jewish prophecies.
There is no documentation that Jesus even existed, outside the New Testament.

The stories surrounding jesus’ birth may have been written before 1 AD, but that does not mean that they actually occurred at the time of jesus’ birth.
ie it may have been written that the messiah would be born in the city of David, but it doesn’t actually mean that jesus was born there, rather that the story of jesus’ birth was retrofitted to the existing ‘prophecy’

Let me clear up a word game that some like to play in here. First the only proof that Jesus existed would be proof that he is not the Jesus of the bible. Allow me to explain. The only way to prove that Jesus the Christ lived would be if we were to uncover his body. If his body were recovered then he is obviously not the same person who is said to have resurrected bodily into heaven. But is there evidence that such a person existed. Of course even if you are to believe that a group of people got together and decided to concoct a fale religion you would have to prove that such a conspiracy happened. Yet we find none of the contemporaries of Jesus day deny such a person ever existed. Odd enough considering it grew such a large following.Some claim there is no proof Jesus existed outside the bible. I wonder if they have heard of the Jewish Talmud http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/ CA6411679.html and http://www.watch.pair.com/HRChrist.html nd yes the old testament preceded the new hence the term. This is provable historically.Andrew prove all the Talmud was written before Jesus. That is a nice try though. Even some Jews recognize Jesus in the Talmud however they view him quite differentlyhttp://judaism.about.com/od/beliefs/a/je sus.htm There is also the writings of Cornelius Tacitus a Roman Historian who was born in A.D.52-54 who was the governor of Asia and son in law of Julius Agricola who was governor of Britain A.d. 80-84 Writing of the reign of Nero Tacitus alludes to the death of Christ and the existence of Christians at Rome. Annals XV 44 Tacitus has further reference to Christianity in a fragment of his histories dealing with the burning of the Jerusalem temple in A.D. 70 preserved by Sulpicius Severus Chronicles ii. 30.6 There is also the writings of Lucian of Samosata who was a second century satirist who spoke scornfully of Christ and Christians and mentioned his crucifixion for introducing this new cult to the world. The passing Peregrinus Lucien also mentioned Christians several times in Alexander the false prophet. Suetonius another Roman historian court official under Hadrian A.D. 120 mentions the Jews making constant disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus(another spelling of Christus) wom he expelled from Rome he also writes "Punshiment by Nero was inflicted on Christians, a class of men given to a new and mischievous superstition. Lives of the Caesars 26.2 Edit to asker: They offer no evidence of their own yet expect you to take them at their word?

Well the book in the bible that contains the most Messianic prophecies is the book of Isiah and the complete book can be found in the great Isaiah scroll found in the Qumran caves.
For centuries people have been saying that Christians redacted the messianic prophecies they use most into the old testament after christ’s life, but the discovery of the Qumran manuscripts disproves that belief which is why christians are so excited about the dead sea scrolls. It is seen by many as a vindication of their belief.

Most of those prophecies are in the book of Isaiah, and there is certainly proof that this book was written before the birth of Jesus - it was part of the Hebrew scriptures that were read in the temple and synagogues at the time. In fact all the old testament prophetic books were part of those writings.
It is wishful thinking to say there is no documentary evidence outside the bible that Jesus existed. It is not a good idea to start giving out opinions that happen to suit your personal beliefs without investigating whether you are right - otherwise you just make yourself look ignorant.

This is what your and my God Says-
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
16. Relate in the Book (the story of) Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the East.
17. She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects.
18. She said: "I seek refuge from thee to (God) Most Gracious: (come not near) if thou dost fear God."
19. He said: "Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.
20. She said: "How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?"
21. He said: "So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, ‘that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us’:It is a matter (so) decreed."
22. So she conceived him, and she retired with him to a remote place.
23. And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree: She cried (in her anguish): "Ah! would that I had died before this! would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!"
24. But (a voice) cried to her from beneath the (palm-tree): "Grieve not! for thy Lord hath provided a rivulet beneath thee;
25. "And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree: It will let fall fresh ripe dates upon thee.
26. "So eat and drink and cool (thine) eye. And if thou dost see any man, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to (God) Most Gracious, and this day will I enter into not talk with any human being’"
27. At length she brought the (babe) to her people, carrying him (in her arms). They said: "O Mary! truly an amazing thing hast thou brought!
28. "O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a man of evil, nor thy mother a woman unchaste!"
29. But she pointed to the babe. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?"
30. He said: "I am indeed a servant of God. He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;
31. "And He hath made me blessed wheresoever I be, and hath enjoined on me Prayer and Charity as long as I live;
32. "(He) hath made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable;
33. "So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)"!
34. Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute.
35. It is not befitting to (the majesty of) God that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it, "Be", and it is.
36. Verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord: Him therefore serve ye: this is a Way that is straight.
37. But the sects differ among themselves: and woe to the unbelievers because of the (coming) Judgment of a Momentous Day!
